Leeds
Bradford Airport (LBA) has announced a new partnership with Muslim Friendly
Employers (MFE). To commemorate the start of this collaboration, Leeds Bradford
Airport, MFE and Regal Foods hosted a special event with a number of speakers to
celebrate the spirit of Ramadan, create space for interfaith conversations and
build connections between businesses, community and culture on Thursday 20th
March.
The event marks the launch of a collaborative effort aimed at fostering inclusion, cultural awareness and community engagement; coming at a time of significant growth for the airport, as it continues to work on its terminal expansion project, LBA:REGEN which will see the airport open a brand-new airside multi-faith room as part of the refurbishment of the current terminal.
Attending the event were members of the MFE, Regal Foods and employees from Leeds Bradford Airport. Compared by Humayun Islam from MFE, speakers included Vincent Hodder, CEO at LBA, Imam Qari Asim, senior Imam at Makkah Mosque in Leeds, Fatima Khan-Shah, Mayor Tracy Brabin’s Inclusivity Champion, Younis Choudhry MBE, Dr Manoj N L Joshi MBE DL, Yaseen Mohammed and Reverend Nathan A Javed.
It brought together employees, local communities and esteemed partners of LBA to share a meal and reflect on the significance of Ramadan. Following a moment of prayer at sunset, guests enjoyed a communal meal and networking session.
The new partnership reflects LBA’s commitment to learning, understanding and supporting cultural diversity in the workplace, having recently launched new EDI and Anti-Bullying and Harassment policies.
Pioneering these policies and partnerships is LBA’s Inclusion Champions network, who are active in celebrating a number of events and driving forward inclusion in the workplace. Inclusion is at the heart of LBA’s company values and building connections in the local community has always been key. This new collaboration with MFE is one of many in ensuring that Leeds Bradford Airport is fostering a culture of learning and understanding.
Vincent Hodder, CEO at Leeds Bradford Airport added: “At Leeds Bradford Airport we are dedicated to creating an environment where diversity is embraced and all employees and passengers are valued. As part of our ongoing efforts, LBA remains committed to providing spaces and opportunities for cultural expression, learning and dialogue. We are thrilled to launch our new partnership with MFE as part of our ongoing dedication to education and understanding.”
